By downloading, installing, or using Berean App, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Description of Service
Berean App is an AI-powered Bible study platform that provides:
- Bible reading with multiple translations
- AI-generated theological research and analysis
- Interactive maps, timelines, and denominational comparisons
- Community features (study groups, prayer wall, discussions)
- Personal study tools (journal, reading plans, streaks)
2. Account Registration
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
- You must provide accurate information
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- One account per person
3. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
IMPORTANT: AI-generated content in Berean App is provided for educational and research purposes only.
- AI responses may contain errors or inaccuracies
- Theological interpretations are presented as viewpoints, not absolute truth
- AI does NOT replace the Holy Spirit, prayer, pastoral counsel, or church leadership
- Users should always verify AI-generated content against Scripture
- We are not liable for decisions made based on AI output
- AI is a study aid — not a spiritual authority
4. Theological Neutrality
Berean App presents multiple Christian traditions fairly. The AI does not:
- Declare any single interpretation as absolute truth
- Represent any denomination's official position
- Replace pastoral counsel or church teaching
- Serve as a substitute for personal Bible study
5. Pricing
- Bible reading is free forever — no paywall on Scripture
- AI features have a free daily tier
- Pro subscription ($4.99/month) provides unlimited AI access
- Subscriptions are managed through Google Play
- Cancel anytime through Google Play subscription settings
6. Community Guidelines
When using community features (study groups, prayer wall, discussions), you agree NOT to:
- Post content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination
- Harass, bully, or threaten other users
- Post spam, advertisements, or solicitations
- Share pornographic, sexually explicit, or graphic content
- Impersonate other people or organizations
- Post illegal content or promote illegal activities
- Present personal theological opinions as official church doctrine
- Share others' personal information without consent
- Repeatedly post off-topic or disruptive content
Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban.
7. Content Moderation
- Users can report inappropriate content
- Reported content is reviewed within 48 hours
- We reserve the right to remove content that violates these guidelines
- Users may block other users
- Repeated violations result in account suspension or termination
8. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use Berean App to generate hateful or harmful content
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as your own scholarly work without disclosure
- Attempt to manipulate the AI to produce biased or harmful content
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or exploit the service
- Use automated tools to scrape content or exceed rate limits
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits or bans
9. Intellectual Property
- The Berean App application, design, and proprietary features are owned by us
- Bible text is sourced from public domain translations (KJV, ASV, WEB, BBE, Darby)
- User-generated content (notes, saved items, group posts) remains the property of the user
- By posting community content, you grant us a license to display it within the app
- AI-generated content is provided for your personal use and study
10. Account Suspension & Termination
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
- We may suspend accounts involved in abuse or harmful behavior
- You may delete your account at any time
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted per our Privacy Policy
11. Limitation of Liability
Berean App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:
- Errors in AI-generated content
- Theological decisions made based on app content
- Service interruptions or data loss
- Actions of other users in community features
- Third-party service outages (OpenAI, Supabase, Google)
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
