About

About Berean App

Berean App is an AI-powered Bible study platform designed to help people explore Scripture using modern technology.

The platform combines Bible translations, AI-assisted study, Hebrew and Greek word studies, Bible maps, timelines, sermon tools, reading plans, notes, audio Bible features and other study resources.

Berean App also supports multiple languages, including South African languages such as Afrikaans.

The project was created by Charl Marajh, a South African software developer with more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology.

Berean App is built around the principle found in Acts 17:11: encouraging people to examine the Scriptures for themselves.

The Story Behind Berean App

Berean App began with a simple idea: what if technology could help Christians study the Bible more deeply while also helping them understand why other Christians sometimes interpret Scripture differently?

Charl Marajh, a South African software developer with more than 20 years of experience in IT, began building Berean App as an independent project combining his experience in technology with his interest in Scripture and Christian study.

The name comes from Acts 17:11, where the Bereans are described as examining the Scriptures for themselves to see whether what they were being taught was true. That principle became the foundation of the project.

Berean App was not created to tell Christians which denomination is right or wrong. Instead, it was designed to give believers tools to read Scripture, explore biblical context, investigate different Christian traditions and examine different interpretations for themselves.

The app brings together Bible reading, AI-assisted theological questions, Scripture context, Hebrew and Greek study tools, Bible maps, timelines, denominational comparisons and other resources in one platform.

Another important part of the vision is accessibility. Berean App was built with a multilingual audience in mind, including support for South African languages such as Afrikaans, isiZulu, isiXhosa and Sesotho.

For Charl, Berean App is ultimately about encouraging people to become more engaged with Scripture and to approach differences between Christians with greater understanding and respect.

"I'm not a preacher or a theologian. I'm a software developer and a believer who wanted to build something that could help people examine the Scriptures for themselves."

— Charl Marajh, Founder

That remains at the heart of Berean App.
